My blog is building information you may find useful too.
What is a doula?
A doula is someone who can provide emotional, practical and knowledgeable support through pregnancy, birth and postnatally
Does hypnobirthing make birth 'pain-free'?
No. Hypnobirthing is about learning how to manage fears, expectations and feelings towards birth. Some people report perceiving pain differently after hypnobirthing but it does not offer 'pain-free' birth.
When should I book hypnobirthing?
A good time is somewhere between 25 and 32 weeks. This gives you enough time to practice and embed the skills before birth. It is also not too early that you risk losing momentum or needing a refresher on some of the content. However, be guided by what feels comfortable for you.
Do doulas give medical advice?
NO. The support of a doula is emotional and practical, NOT clinical. We can signpost to evidence to help you make decisions but we do not give clinical advice.
How is a doula different from a midwife?
Midwives are regulated practitioners who provide clinical care for pregnancy, birth and the immediate postnatal period. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide continuous emotional and informational support and physical comfort during pregnancy, birth and postnatally.
Does a doula replace my birth partner?
I am there to support you both through this journey. During pregnancy, birth and postnatally, partners can experience this differently and intensely, often with limited support. Partners can benefit a huge amount from doula support too.
